Consider one of the several workshops offered at Canio�s Books. New sessions are beginning this spring. Writing Workshops: Personal Essay/ Memoir: Small group, creative non-fiction workshops led by Maryann Calendrille focus on short personal essay and memoir. Constructive critique and examination of works by published writers. Evening sessions run for 6 weeks at a time. Daytime sessions coming soon. Call the bookshop for details. Spirit Writes: Small group workshop considers the works of Thomas Merton, Henri Nouwen, and others as inspiration for writing our own personal essays. Photography Workshops: �The Long Look: led by Kathryn Szoka. This workshop helps participants develop their own photographic subject into a portfolio of images. While working on individual projects, the group will study technical aspects of photography applying them to their subject. Further, the workshop will explore the importance of the intuitive, instantaneous camera response necessary to capturing images. The workshop meets for five sessions. Fee: $125. Writer Maryann Calendrille, M.F.A. leads non-fiction workshops and offers individual editorial consultation to those working on book-length projects. Small group workshops offer individual attention and constructive critique. Her essays, articles, and poems have appeared in various publications. She is editor of Sag Harbor Is: a Literary Celebration Photographer Kathryn Szoka�s Vanishing Landscape series which captures the changing character of the East End, has been widely exhibited both locally and internationally. She is currently at work on documenting the Bridgehampton Turnpike community as well as other artistic and commercial projects.
